Bert Hummel has spent his entire career zealously advocating for his clients. Recognized annually as one of the top lawyers in Georgia by his peers, Bert handles a variety of personal injury cases across Georgia including car accidents, trucking accident and injury cases, workers compensation and work-place injury cases, slip and falls, trip and falls, negligent security cases, wrongful death, and daycare injury cases. Bert has been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine, Best Lawyers Magazine, Atlanta Magazine, Georgia Trend, and the Daily Report as one of the top attorneys in the Georgia legal community.
Bert also serves on the faculty of Mercer University School of Law as an adjunct professor of law where he teaches an upper level course settlement negotiations and strategy.
Bert is admitted to practice in every court in Georgia including the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia. He is also barred in the Supreme Court of the United States. Bert serves on the State Bar of Georgia's Board of Governors, Cobb County Bar Association's Board of Trustees, Mercer University School of Law Alumni Board of Trustees, GTLA Executive Committee and PAC Board, and State Bar of Georgia’s Bench and Bar Committee, CCLC, and Advisory Council on Litigation. Bert understands the value of community and dedicates several hours a year to charitable causes and community outreach.
Prior to starting Hummel Trial Law, Bert was a partner at a large AM Law 100 firm (one of the ten largest litigation firms in the entire country) where he represented insurance companies, businesses, and employers. That experience provides Bert with the first-hand knowledge of how these at-fault parties evaluate and defend cases. Understanding how the other side will evaluate and defend against your case provides an advantage in the courtroom and in negotiations so that we are able to get clients what they deserve in a quick and efficient manner.
Bert grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia, and graduated from Milton High School where he played basketball and held leadership roles in various clubs. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. After working at the State Capitol and serving on the executive team for non-profit organizations, Bert obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University School of Law where he served as Vice-President of the Student Bar Association and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for his oral advocacy accomplishments.
Bert resides in West Cobb with his wife Christina, two young daughters, and toddler son. In his spare time, Bert enjoys playing basketball, golf, cheering on the Dawgs, Braves, Hawks, Falcons, and Atlanta United.
